Parent Involvement
Belonging to a co-op preschool means taking an active role in your child's early education. The success of the school is dependent on all members lending a hand. By working together, we keep tuition low—and hopefully learn a few things about our children & ourselves along the way!
Below are the responsibilities that our members share.
classroom workdays
You'll attend class once per week, per class in your child’s class. On your workday, you'll help the children learn through play and assist in the classroom routine.
The following adult-to-child ratios must be maintained in order for class to be held:
2s: 1 adult for every 2 children
3s: 1 adult for every 3 children
Pre-K: 1 adult for every 5 children
It is your duty to provide a substitute when unable to attend, even in the event of an illness or vacation.
*If twins or multiples are enrolled in the same class, a member is able to work once per week as long as the above adult-child ratios are maintained.
classroom jobs
You'll hold a classroom job, which, on average, will require about 6 hours of your time per year. Some jobs are spread throughout the course of the year, while others are concentrated during particular, brief periods.
Jobs include: Teacher’s Assistant, Member Meeting Host, Fundraising Class Representative, Class Photographer, Field Trip Coordinator, etc.
Find more information on classroom jobs can be found here.
As an alternative, you can offer to hold a board position. Elected board members are not required to hold classroom jobs.
board positions
You can volunteer to run for election to a board position. If elected, you'll attend monthly Board meetings, held from 6:30pm-8:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of each month.
Board members are exempt from weekly classroom cleaning, mid-year & year-end cleanings and do not have to hold an additional member job. They also receive training and support from Edmonds College’s Family Life Education Department.
Meetings are in-person at Edmonds College.

cleaning
The classroom is cleaned every weekend and each member must sign up to perform a cleaning at least once during the school year. Cleanings take 2 hours or less.
Members must also participate in either the group Mid-Year or End-of-Year Deep Cleaning, as assigned by class.
Children may not be present at any cleanings.
Board members are exempt from cleanings.
parent enrichment
You'll lead an activity of your choice for your child’s class once during the school year. You might read a favorite story, play a musical instrument, share some other special talent, lead a song or game with the class.
fundraising
Each family is required help with co-op fundraising efforts by either contributing or helping to raise $100 per child.
For families wishing to make their contribution via fundraising, optional fundraising projects will be made available over the course of the school year.
member meetings
You'll attend required Member Meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, 6:30pm-8:30pm. Meetings begin with an all-member business portion, followed by breakout sessions with our individual classes for parent education with the assigned parent instructor.
Meetings are in-person at Edmonds College.
